Mrs Dot Kidd celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday with many family and friends. Dot enjoyed a champagne breakfast with her Keyworker before a visit to her hairdresser. She received her card from the Queen and had visits from the Lord Lieutenant and local councillors to help her celebrate her day.

Dot’s secret to her long life is hard work and minding her own business!!!

This was also a special celebration for Bonnyton House as they have waited 15 years to celebrate their first centenary. Manager Louise said it has been a long time in coming but well worth it.

Thank you all for returning the Quality Questionnaire's that were distributed at our Open Evening. The results have shown an overall performance increase of 6%.

All area's General, Home, Health and Service statements saw increases.

Our recent Care Commission inspection also gavce us an increase of grading bringing all catagories to a 5 (Very Good).

Staff and Management are very pleased with our own in house survey and to have it recognised by the Care Commission is welcoming.

Thank you again for your feedback and we are looking forward to an Open Evening again in the near future.

Lorraine McDonald our Care Commission Officer will be carrying out an inspection on Friday 2nd July from 9.00am. If anyone wishes to meet with Lorraine please come along any time during the day.

We had an excellent well attended first Family & Friends Night. A relaxed evening having blether with wine and canapés proved to be a success. We were very humbled to receive so much praise and I have listed below some of the comments that were made to us.

The Friends of Bonnyton have organised another fly cup run on the 18th May 2010. Residents will be out from 2pm. The trip wont be far as we are going to the Kirk Centre and hopefully over to the newly refurbished Parish Church to see the work that has recently been done.

I recognise it is not always possible to be available when families or friends come to visit. Therefore as part of our ongoing resident and family participation strategy we are having our first of hopefully regular “Resident Family & Friends Meetings”.

We have organised to have this meeting on Thursday 27th May 2010 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm where the manager, owners, resident key workers and members of the Friends of Bonnyton will be available to discuss the service we provide.

The meeting will be an informal “drop in” where we will have some canapés and drinks. We would hope to have open discussions about your idea’s or opinions and key staff will be here to discuss any private issue you may have. I would ask that you pass this invitation on to all family and friends who you think would like to attend.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the evening.

The Friends of Bonnyton will be joining the residents for a Christmas lunch on Tuesday the 15th December thereafter an afternoon of entertainment and music. It has even been rumoured that there may be a special person will make an appearance that afternoon.

Should any family or friend wish to come and join in the fun then please come along from 2.30pm onwards.

We are again having a Xmas Raffle. It will be drawn on the 21st December 2009. There is many prizes and some are already on display in the home. If you would like some tickets to by or to sell on our behalf then please speak to any of the staff at Bonnyton.

Over 150 people attended the Friends of Bonnyton Fashion show. It was a great evening with fantastic designer clothing being shown by Catwalkers of Ellon and shoes and accessories from G & S Patterson. There was a fantasic raffle draw at the interval. In all a very successful evening. Thanks to everyone who made this possible and to those who bought tickets and attended. Many Thanks.

There will be a fashion show at the New Inn on Wednesday 28th October at 7.00pm. This event will help to raise funds for the friends group and will be displaying the latest fashions from Catwalkers and S & G Paterson. If you require tickets please call the home

The Friends of Bonnyton House will be escorting the residents to a luncheon at Red House Hotel in Cruden Bay on the 22nd September. An afternoon of music and entertainment will follow before the run back home taking in the sights and views that so many are familiar with. This annual event is enjoyed by all the residents.

Bonnyton House was inspected on the 31st July and was rerecocnised as meeting and infact exceeding the national standard.

John Calder of IIP stated in his report "I was satisfied beyond any doubt that Bonnyton House continues to meet the requirements of the IIP standard and I would like to congratulate all of you involved on this achievement"

John highlighted many areas of good practice in his report which will be available at Bonnyton House for anyone wishing to read it.

The Care Commission will be carrying out an anounced inspection at Bonnyton House on the 28th & 29th July 09. Anyone wishing to see the inspection officer is welcome to visit or phone on that days.
